IB Film Studies

Students will develop creative skills, theoretical understanding, and textual analysis of films. Students will study film history and theory enabling them to develop an appreciation of the art of film. In addition students will learn technical skills in the art of filmmaking. Students will work individually and in groups to demonstrate their knowledge and technical skills as well as their creativity. The IB requirements for this course are an oral presentation, a 1750 word essay, and a creation of a short film with an accompanying trailer. Some after school work is required. Credit in this course may be applied toward he minimum fine arts graduation requirement.



Video Production

Prerequisite – None
1521 – 1/2 Unit

Students, in this hands-on and project-based course, learn fundamental skills to create and broadcast a variety of video productions. Students are assessed on their skills in operating equipment, quality of projects, ability to work on a production team, and their ability to meet production deadlines. The type of equipment studied is determined by what is available in the school. Maximum course fee is $25.00.


Video Productions, Advanced

Prerequisite – Video Production, audition, and teacher approval
1522 – 1/2 Unit

Students build on experience and skills acquired in Video Production to develop and produce individual projects, building web video packages, and/or district broadcasted programs. Students are accessed on their skill in operation equipment, quality of projects, ability to work on a production team, and ability to meet production deadlines. Course may be repeated for credit. Credit may be applied toward the minimum fine arts graduation requirement. Maximum course fee is $25.00. Students enrolled in Video Production, Advanced may be eligible for JCCC credit (College Now)
